West Los Angeles, CA, July, 2008 - In a first for both large scale recording studio monitors and music industry retailers, Ocean Way's renowned Hi-Res Main Monitor Systems are now available for demonstration and purchase through Guitar Center Professional (GC Pro), the outside sales division of Guitar Center that focuses on the needs of professional users.
"At GC Pro, we have been offering almost everything you need for a professional recording environment, " remarked Rick Plushner, Director of Sales, "from DAW's to consoles, amps, outboard gear, patchbays and cables. But the one piece of the puzzle that has been missing is the true large scale monitoring system. Now with Ocean Way's Hi-Res Monitors we complete the picture with a range of speakers that provide the optimum audio presentation for mixing and tracking."
Prior to the Ocean Way monitor installation at Guitar Center's new outlet in West Los Angeles, the famous loud speakers have only been seen at the AES and NAMM Conventions and at the recording studio's non-public demo rooms. The address of Guitar Center, West LA, is 10831 West Pico Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90064.
"We are very excited about bringing our hi-resolution monitors to the commercial marketplace," commented Allen Sides, Ocean Way founder and owner. "These speakers are the result of more than three decades of development at our studios -- ultra-high fidelity recording monitors that produce the levels you need for a producer like Dr. Dre but which are equally satisfying to a Herbie Hancock or a band like Green Day. It's simply a very powerful, extremely accurate, standalone broadband
system."
The Ocean Way monitor systems now available through GC Pro range from the HR-2 tri-amplified 3-way system at $38,600 to the OWA-1615Q quad-amplified system with four mid-bass horns, eight mid-woofers, eight sub-bass woofers, and two radial horns with dual throats, priced at $120,000. Systems include crossovers, equalizers, and power amps.
Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters and Nirvana fame, commented, "The monitors Allen built for my private studio, which we used to mix the last Foo Fighters album on, let me hear my music the way I want: Very Loud and Very Clear!" Additional praise has come from users such as Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich, Green Day producer Rob Cavallo, mixer Jack Joseph Puig, producer and electronics designer George Massenburg, and Skywalker Ranch scoring engineer Leslie Ann Jones.
